The gentleman had recently located after selling his family residence. He initially visited our Bishopthorpe Studio seeking a few straightforward interior furnishing solutions. Our flexible, customer focused approach enabled us to grow a strong working relationship with both the client and his close personal support network. As trust became established, the team discovered a number ways that Middlethorpe Interiors could assist the client in establishing himself in his new home. A concept design was agreed and, with only a few treasured items and his personal fine arts and crafts collection to consider, the project offered us a blank canvas to work from.

A much loved Ercol chair provided the perfect inspiration for the final design concept. The timeless, 1950’s ethic that is synonymous with the Ercol brand is reflected in every room - from the bedroom to the kitchen. Understated elegance balances carefully with function and comfort – allowing the art and crafts collection to take the focus it deserves.

Beautiful Shaker style wardrobes and additional hardwood furniture pieces were specifically designed and handcrafted to complement the theme. These bespoke details can be seen running throughout the design. One such example is illustrated in the living room with harmony between the lined feature of the Bang and Olufsen television, the custom made sideboard and top cabinet. Directional lighting from the top cabinet highlights and enhances the client’s original artwork. Soft furnishings in the form of curtains, upholstery and bedding add warmth and texture. Practical storage options were a high priority for the client, and taken into account during the design phase for each room.

In helping us to complete this project, our excellent team of crafts men and women applied an exacting attention to detail, in keeping with our reputation at Middlethorpe Interiors. Together we designed and hand finished unique pieces of furniture that met both the needs of the client and the design.

Middlethorpe Interiors worked closely with the client and his family to understand exactly what he needed from us. Good channels of communication were vital to the success of this project, ensuring that the client was able to speak openly about his personal taste and style preferences.

The Residence concept was completed within a six month period. We are honoured to have helped this gentleman move onto this next chapter of life with a home full of his individual character and personality.
