The Middlethorpe Way - An Interior Design studio in York
Bringing spaces to life with sophisticated design principles, clever space solutions and lashings of personality is exactly what we do.
We specialise in full interiors services, working with bewilderingly talented artisans, designers and trades to create spaces you’ll never want to leave.
Designers always talk about being customer-focused but in our case that doesn’t just mean devising a scheme that suits your space and tastes. It also means we’re professionals with a can-do attitude and a reputation for reliability. We’ll communicate with you in your preferred style – and we’ll be in touch as agreed between us.
You won’t get an off-the-peg interior from Middlethorpe Interiors. Our look is your look. We have enough experience under our belts to take a fresh approach to each project, according to what you’ve got in mind. And we’ve got the contacts book to make it happen, too.
With solid architectural knowhow in our skillset, we think about spaces in a different way to many interior designers. But at the other end of the scale, our experience with fabrics means we have an unrivalled understanding of texture, drape and wear that’s often missing from finished schemes.
Whether you want us to take on a fresh project or you’ve had your fingers burned by being let down by another designer, you’ll want to know what’s in store when you commission us.
Here’s how we work:
Stage 1. The Foundations
In our first meeting, we’ll learn all about your aspirations – so that we can exceed them. This is time well-spent, getting to know each other, exploring your personal style and getting a baseline of how you wish to use your property.
Through either visiting your site or studying floor plans and photographs, we’ll build a picture of the project. Give us everything you’ve got – we’ll go through your objectives, time scale, budget, and any structural or administrative requirements to make sure we’re 100% on the same page.
From there, we’ll send over a proposal outlining the brief as we understand it, with an estimated budget for the FF&E (furniture, fixtures & equipment) and our associated design fee.
Stage 2. The Masterplan
Time to bring those briefs to life. We’ll interpret your ideas and objectives and present them as concept designs. We’ll create floor plans which illustrate proposed furniture layouts and any structural changes that might be needed.
Shaping mood board presentations with samples of everything we propose, we’ll share different finishes, as well as images of suggested furniture and joinery concepts.
But it’s not all one-sided. This is a highly collaborative stage and we love it when our clients get involved in the process, providing as much feedback as possible.
Stage 3. Design and development
With all concept designs approved, we’ll start drawing out the finer details.
This means you’ll get to see all the bespoke furniture, joinery and interior architecture drawings, as well as final finishes, curated art and those all-important accessories.
At this stage, we’ll give you a fully itemised breakdown of costs in line with the agreed budget.
Stage 4. Execution
It’s all systems go. Once the schedule of works are outlined and agreed, we’ll make sure all the onsite requirements are met.
Onsite work will commence – our project coordinators and designers will regularly meet at the property to make sure our designs are being carried out to the exact specifications and that the project is progressing as planned.
You’ll be kept fully in the loop from the beginning to the end of the project. We tailor our client approach to suit you and your preferences. Whether we’re in regular touch or planning to simply hand you a finished space at the end, no loose end goes untied – allowing you to live, work and play in your property with peace of mind at the end of the project.
