Virtual Design Service

A focused interior design service for one room, delivered remotely.

Middlethorpe Interiors Virtual Interior Design service offers considered, professional design guidance delivered remotely. It is a structured service for clients who are seeking clear design direction for a single room, without the need for on-site visits or installation.

This service is particularly suited to clients outside our local area of North Yorkshire, overseas properties, or those who prefer to implement a design independently, with expert guidance.

Our Virtual Design service focuses on design intent and visual direction.

We create a cohesive scheme that brings clarity to your space - from layout and colour to furniture and finishes - giving you the confidence to move forward at your own pace.

It is a thoughtful, well-defined service that provides creative direction without the responsibility of full project delivery.

What our Virtual Interior Design service offers

Is Virtual Design right for you?

  • Do not require installation or on-site delivery

  • Are comfortable managing ordering and trades independently

  • Would like professional design direction without full service involvement

What does our Virtual Interior Design service provide?

What Virtual Design does not include

To maintain clarity and focus, our Virtual Interior Design service does not include:

  • Site visits or in-person consultations

  • Measuring or site verification

  • Ordering or procurement of items

  • Installation or styling

  • Trade appointments or project management

  • Technical or construction drawings

Where works involve trades, clients appoint and manage these directly.

A note on Scope

Virtual Design provides design guidance rather than project delivery.

If, during the design process, it becomes apparent that your space would benefit from:

  • Changes to electrics or lighting layouts

  • Plumbing alterations

  • Bespoke cabinetry or joinery

  • Kitchen or bathroom design

  • Any works requiring technical coordination or on-site responsibility

We will always advise honestly.

In these cases, the project would move into one of our on-site services, allowing us to take the appropriate level of responsibility and ensure the design is delivered correctly.

Kitchens & Bathrooms

Due to their technical and service-led nature, kitchens and bathrooms are not included within our Virtual Design service.

These spaces are best approached through our Full Interior Design service, where careful planning, coordination and specification can be fully supported.

Next Steps

Remote design guidance, per room

Virtual Design Service - Frequently Asked Questions

  • Virtual Interior Design is a remote design service, available for clients across the UK, that provides professional design guidance for a single room at a time.

We create a considered design scheme - covering layout, colour, furniture and finishes - delivered digitally, allowing you to implement the design independently.

It offers clear creative direction without on-site visits, procurement or installation.

  • Virtual Design is ideal for clients who:

    • Are based outside our local service area of North Yorkshire

    • Are working on a second home or overseas property

    • Do not require installation or on-site project delivery

    • Are comfortable managing ordering and trades independently

If you’re looking for a fully delivered, hands-off service, one of our on-site services will be a better fit.

  • Our Virtual Design service focuses on design intent only.

Our on-site services include additional responsibilities such as procurement, installation and coordination to ensure the design is fully delivered. Virtual Design provides clarity and confidence, but without those elements.

  • Our Virtual Design service is delivered on a per-room basis.

Each room is treated as its own project to keep the design focused and clearly defined. Additional rooms can be quoted separately.

  • No, our Virtual Design service is delivered entirely remotely and does not include site visits or in-person consultations.

  • No the Virtual Design service does not include measurement by Middlethorpe Interiors. Measurements are provided by the client.

We design based on the information supplied, and we’ll guide you on what measurements are required. Accuracy is important, as we are unable to verify measurements remotely.

  • No, ordering, procurement, delivery and installation are not included in our Virtual Design service.

    Clients manage these elements directly.

  • Middlethorpe Interiors are happy to recommend trusted trades where appropriate.

Clients appoint and manage trades directly, including making appointments and overseeing works. Our role is to provide design guidance rather than manage delivery.

  • One round of revisions allows refinement of the original design proposal once it has been presented.

This stage is intended to fine-tune the scheme rather than redesign it.

  • For the Virtual Design service, one round of revisions includes up to three item-level changes per room.

An item-level change refers to a single selection, such as:

    • Swapping one piece of furniture

    • Changing one light fitting

    • Adjusting one rug, table or accessory

    • Revising one paint colour

All changes are made within the original design direction.

  • No. Revisions are intended to refine specific elements of the scheme, not to revisit or rework the entire design.

    They do not include:

    • Redesigning the overall concept

    • Revisiting every furniture, lighting and finish choice

    • Exploring alternative design directions

    • Restarting the design process

If the design direction itself needs to change, we’re always happy to discuss next steps.

  • We ask that all revision feedback is provided as one consolidated response.

This allows us to address changes efficiently while keeping the design cohesive and the process streamlined.

  • If you’d like to explore further refinements beyond the included revisions within the Virtual Design service, additional design time can be quoted.

Alternatively, we may suggest transitioning into one of our on-site services, if a higher level of support or design development would be more appropriate.

  • Virtual Design provides design guidance only.

If, during the design process, it becomes clear that your space would benefit from:

    • Electrical or lighting layout changes

    • Bespoke cabinetry or joinery

    • Plumbing alterations

    • Any work requiring technical coordination or on-site responsibility

    We will advise honestly.

In these cases, the project would be better suited to one of our on-site services, where the appropriate level of responsibility can be taken.

  • No, due to their technical and service-led nature, kitchens and bathrooms are not suitable for the Virtual Design service.

These spaces are best delivered through our Full Interior Design service to ensure accuracy, coordination and a seamless result.

  • Not at all. Our Virtual Design service offers the same thoughtful, considered approach as our other services - it is simply delivered remotely, with a clearly defined scope.

  • If your needs change, we’ll always discuss the most appropriate next step.

Depending on the scope, your project may transition into one of our on-site services to ensure it’s supported in the right way.

  • If you’re looking for professional interior design direction but don’t require installation or project delivery, Virtual Design may be a good fit.

If you’d prefer a fully managed, hassle-free experience, we recommend exploring our One-Room Interior Design or Full Interior Design services instead.

  • At Middlethorpe Interiors we’re always happy to help you choose the right service before you commit.

Our priority is clear expectations, thoughtful interior design, and beautifully considered outcomes - whichever service you choose.
